William Wharton Cassels nasceu no Porto a 11 de Março de 1858 e morreu a 7 de Novembro de 1925, na China. Foi o sexto filho de John Cassels e Ethelinda Cox, recebeu a sua educação na Repton School e no St John's College, Cambridge. A 4 de Junho de 1882 foi ordenado diácono em Rochester e a 10 de Junho de 1883 padre. Entre 1882 e 1885 foi curador na All Saints' South Lambeth. Membro do famoso grupo ‘Cambridge Seven’, parte em missão para a China em 1885, onde se torna o primeiro bispo anglicano em 1895.
William Wharton Cassels was born in Porto on March 11, 1858, and died on November 7, 1925, in China. He was the sixth son of John Cassels and Ethelinda Cox, received his education at Repton School and St John's College, Cambridge. On 4 June 1882 he has ordained a deacon in Rochester and on 10 June 1883 a priest. Between 1882, and 1885 he was a curator at All Saints' South Lambeth. Member of the famous group 'Cambridge Seven', he went on a mission to China in 1885, where he became the first Anglican bishop in 1895.
