Cassels, Margaret Kennedy. 1872-1963

Margaret Kennedy Cassels foi a segunda filha de Diogo e Isabel Cassels. Nasceu em 1872 e nunca chegou a casar. Aluna aplicada, recebeu lições de seus pais e em 1886 fez exame de instrução primária, de admissão aos liceus e de inglês, tendo sido a melhor aluna. Continuará a ser laureada nos anos seguintes e em 1888 vai estudar para a Alemanha. após o curso dos liceus, lecciona francês e física e química nas Escolas do Torne. A par da atividade letiva, desenvolvia igualmente atividades de cariz cultural e evangélico. Vamos assim encontrá-la cantando árias de ópera em saraus culturais ou participando na Secção Feminina do Esforço Cristão de Gaia, da Comissão feminina de missões ou ainda na Comissão de Recreio e Passeios. Após a morte da mãe, vai ser ela o grande sustentáculo afetivo de Diogo Cassels.

Margaret Kennedy Cassels was the second daughter of Diogo and Isabel Cassels. He was born in 1872 and never got married. An applied student, she received lessons from her parents and in 1886 she took primary education, high school admission and English, and was the best student. She will continue to be awarded in the following years and in 1888 she will study for Germany. after high school, he teaches French and physics and chemistry at Torne Schools. In addition to teaching, he also developed activities of a cultural and evangelical nature. So we will find her singing opera arias in cultural soirées or participating in the Feminine Section of the Christian Effort of Gaia, of the feminine Missions Commission or in the Recreation and Tours Commission. Cassels, William Wharton. 1858-1925, bispo

William Wharton Cassels nasceu no Porto a 11 de Março de 1858 e morreu a 7 de Novembro de 1925, na China. Foi o sexto filho de John Cassels e Ethelinda Cox, recebeu a sua educação na Repton School e no St John's College, Cambridge. A 4 de Junho de 1882 foi ordenado diácono em Rochester e a 10 de Junho de 1883 padre. Entre 1882 e 1885 foi curador na All Saints' South Lambeth. Membro do famoso grupo ‘Cambridge Seven’, parte em missão para a China em 1885, onde se torna o primeiro bispo anglicano em 1895.

He was the sixth son of John Cassels and Ethelinda Cox, received his education at Repton School and St John's College, Cambridge. On 4 June 1882 he has ordained a deacon in Rochester and on 10 June 1883 a priest. Between 1882, and 1885 he was a curator at All Saints' South Lambeth.
